In brief

Black Tears is EATBRAIN 241, credited to Burr Oak and Pythius featuring REEBZ. It follows catalogue number 240, Agressor Bunx's Feral Rage EP, which Eatbrain issued on 11 September, and it is up on Beatport and the label's SoundCloud.

The personnel is the story. Burr Oak is the collaborative project of French producers The Clamps and Opsen, and Beatport's artist biography describes their remit as a dark, cinematic strain of neurofunk built on ruthless sound design, with releases across Trendkill, Eatbrain, Blackout and Cause4Concern. Pythius has been one of Blackout's most consistent names for the better part of a decade. The three have crossed paths before: Blackout released a Burr Oak remix of Pythius and REEBZ's Erase Me in November 2024, so this is the same triangle redrawn with all parties on the original rather than one of them cleaning up after the fact.

Where it has turned up

5HA5H played it third on Eatbrain Radio S03E14, broadcast 24 September, in a show that also carried Mefjus & Annix's Genesis on MODUS and Audio's Way Of Life on Neuroheadz. It has since appeared in DC2's Best Of The Month 021 selection dated 2 October. That is modest circulation data, but it is the usual early signal for an Eatbrain single: label radio first, then the wider neuro selector mixes.

Eatbrain's last two months have been unusually busy even by its standards — catalogue 238 in early August, 239 on 24 August, 240 on 11 September, the Neuroheadz collaborative EP in between — and the label's release cadence has left little room between numbers. Black Tears arrives into that traffic with the strongest name recognition of the run, and a Pythius credit on an Eatbrain record remains a comparatively rare event given where most of his catalogue lives.

No vinyl has been announced. The track is on Beatport under release 7447808 and streaming in full on the Eatbrain SoundCloud, with the label's usual YouTube upload alongside it.
