Paimon's Anamnesis extends a year-long EATBRAIN anniversary run
In brief
Five tracks from the Teddy Killerz founder, out on EATBRAIN as part of the label's 15-year programme, and his third EP for the imprint in twelve months.
Paimon has been filing for EATBRAIN at a rate that makes most release schedules look leisurely. Anamnesis, out in late July, is his third EP for the Budapest label in the space of a year, and it lands inside the label's rolling celebration of fifteen years of dark drum and bass — the same anniversary programme that has already absorbed Agressor Bunx and the Neuroheadz collaborative compilation.
The five-track structure is the format Paimon has settled into for this run rather than a one-off. EDM Identity, covering the release, lists "Souls walk in" as the opener, followed by "My flow", with "Coming down" positioned as the EP's peak and "Callin me" closing. That review frames the record as an extension of what it calls Paimon's sci-fi-inspired storytelling, built on intricate drum programming and precision sound design — the house vocabulary EATBRAIN has used to describe its own catalogue for most of those fifteen years.
Context matters more than the tracklist here
Paimon's work outside this alias is the reason the release carries weight. He is a founding member of Teddy Killerz, a project whose output shaped a decade of technical drum and bass on both sides of the Atlantic, and the solo material has functioned as the place where the harder, less compromising end of that sensibility goes. Three EPs in a year on a single label is not a scattergun approach; it reads as a working relationship where the A&R and the producer have stopped negotiating.
That has consequences for how Anamnesis should be judged. It is not a statement record and does not present itself as one. It is a set of functional dancefloor tools delivered into an anniversary campaign that needs consistent supply, and its value is in how reliably it does that job rather than in any claim to redirect the sound. EATBRAIN's fifteenth year has been built on exactly this model — a steady rotation of trusted names filing tightly specified EPs — and Paimon has been among its most dependable contributors.
The EP is streaming on Spotify and available to download from Beatport. If you have been tracking the anniversary series release by release, this is the instalment where the pattern becomes obvious: EATBRAIN is not marking fifteen years with a retrospective, it is marking it by not slowing down.
