Gancher & Ruin and Gydra land EATBRAIN 242 with the four-track Deepraw
In brief
Eatbrain's 242nd catalogue entry, out 9 October, pairs the Russian-rooted duos for a record the label's own radio show was running three weeks before release.
Deepraw arrived on Eatbrain on 9 October 2026 as catalogue number EATBRAIN 242, credited jointly to Gancher & Ruin and Gydra. Store listings show four titles: Deepraw, Ground, Jokka and Sdacha, all logged at 174 BPM, with Ground the longest of the set at 4:30 and the title track at 3:46. Beatport carries it as a store exclusive and flagged it on release.
The pairing is less a one-off than an alignment of two of the label's longest-serving acts. Gydra, per Beatport's artist profile, is the duo of Eugene Besman — DJ Bes, who runs the Neuropunk podcast and the Tamrecords lineage — and Moscow producer Nikolay Shilov, also known as Menfort; the same profile lists Eatbrain, Blackout, Bad Taste, Renegade Hardware and Cause 4 Concern among their prior homes. Gancher & Ruin have been on Eatbrain's artist roster long enough to have hosted the label's podcast in their own right, back at Eatbrain Podcast 037. Both acts also turn up on the credits for Merikan's Nightreign album for Blackout earlier this year, which gives some sense of how tightly this corner of the roster overlaps.
Early support
The record was in play well ahead of its date. Deepraw appeared in 5HA5H's tracklist for Eatbrain Radio S03E14 on 24 September 2026, three weeks out, sitting alongside Mefjus & Annix's Genesis on MODUS and Audio's Way Of Life on Neuroheadz in the show's running order. Since release it has spread across the obvious channels rather than stalling as a single-track EP: Gvozd played Ground and Sdacha on Record Club 1301 on 16 October, and Perplex ran Jokka on his Livestream #87 on 14 October. Three of the four cuts getting independent airings in the same week is the useful signal here — it suggests the EP was built as a DJ tool set rather than around one lead.
Context matters for where this sits in the catalogue. Eatbrain has had a crowded autumn: EATBRAIN 240 landed on 11 September, Burr Oak & Pythius with REEBZ delivered Black Tears as 241, and the label also ran its first joint release with Neuroheadz, celebrated with a special edition of Eatbrain Radio on 3 September. Against that run, handing 242 to two established duos working together reads as the label consolidating rather than scouting.
No label copy has been circulated for the release beyond the store entries, and Eatbrain has kept it to Beatport and the usual streaming partners rather than a vinyl or Bandcamp push.
